Another Day in Paradise

ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE by Roy John Wheelock

Another day in paradise
It’s up against the pain
A deck of cards, a pair of dice
A crap shoot in the rain

Now take Chicago Billy
When’s the last time he had a meal?
He came here on a greyhound bus
A weekend package deal

IT’S A BLUELIGHT MIDNIGHT SPECIAL
THEY DESIGNED IT JUST FOR YOU
ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE
MONROE COUNTY BLUES

Old Minnissota Bobby
Now he’s a multimillionaire
He plays on big time radio
Gave up the county fairs

{LIFT]

And Chicago Billy? He’s still down and out.
And folks say of old Billy,
“he never did to much amount”

IT’S A BLUELIGHT MIDNIGHT SPECIAL
THEY DESIGNED IT JUST FOR YOU
ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE
MONROE COUNTY BLUES

Hey there uncle Charlie
It’s up against the wall
drop your pants, it’s circumstance
He’s rich, your poor, that’s all

Another day in paradise
It’s up against the pain
A deck of cards, a pair of dice
A crap shoot in the rain

So you relieve yourself in the mangrove swamp
as the man slides down the road
And you hum that tune we’ve come to know
As Desolation Row

IT’S A BLUELIGHT MIDNIGHT SPECIAL
THEY DESIGNED IT JUST FOR YOU
ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE
MONROE COUNTY BLUES
